We went to see “Disney’s A Christmas Carol 3D” in Villagio’s Imax this afternoon. We were supposed to watch it this weekend but I decided to do it this afternoon as I was assuming that many would be watching on the weekend. We caught the 4:15 showing. Villagio was showing on 2 screens; the IMAX […]

Google Wave

I have been given a Google Wave account by Google as I probably was one of the first to apply for one when they announced it. When I mean one of the first, that’s probably the first 200,000 or 300,000!

Anyway, I am giving away Google Wave invites to those interested. I have a more than a dozen. Just reply to this post and tell me what you’re going to do with Wave if you get invited and hopefully, you’re reason is enough to get you that invite.

It’s a good day for iPhone/iPod Jailbreakers! You can now Jailbreak your iPhone 3.1.2 and iTouch too! George Hotz (aka geohot), the kid who was the first to unlock the original iPhone back in 2007 and then iPhone 3GS in July of this year has come up with blackra1n. It’s a  jailbreak for ALL devices running firmware 3.1.2. So for those who upgraded to the 3.1.1 and lost their jailbreak, you can now even move to 3.1.2 and still jailbreak your iPhone! A big note though, blackra1n only jailbreaks your phone and not unlock it. Meaning, if you bought your phone in the the US and using it here in Qatar, you still won’t get signal from Vodafone or Qtel even if you use blackra1n. Those iPhones bought through Starlink, Vodafone, or Hong Kong, Australia, Italy or other countries selling officially unlocked iPhones, you’re good to go!

Here’s what to do:

1. Download and install the latest version of iTunes.

2. Update/restore to the original iPhone OS firmware 3.1.2 on your iPhone by using the latest version of iTunes.

3. Download blackra1n. This only works for Windows. Click on the Windows Logo to start your download.

4. Start blackra1n app. If you are on Windows 7 or Vista, run the app with “Windows XP Compatibility” mode by enabling it from the “Properties” tab to avoid any errors during the jailbreak process

5. Click on “make it ra1n”

6. blackra1n will do its magic. Just wait until your iPhone/iPod reboots.

7. You should now have “blackra1n” in the list of applications on your iPhone. Run “blackra1n” from your iPhone/iPod. Download Cydia and install it.

8. Reboot your iPhone/iPod. You should now have fully jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch running on firmware 3.1.2 !

I’ve been quite busy the past few months. Here’s the list of things that I’ve been doing:

1. Revived my old laptop which haven’t been working for the last 2 years. Got it repaired on the last day of my vacation in the Philippines. Gave it to my Mom to use at home.

2. Revived my Xbox 360 which had a GPU failure early this year, I think. Opened the case, applied some thermal paste, and "baked" it for some minutes. Result: a working Xbox 360!

3. Soft -modded the Xbox 360 DVD Drive. I can now play burned "backups" on my revived Xbox 360!

4. Cracked the WEP key of my neighbors WiFi for Backtrack Testing. Don’t worry, didn’t hack their PC’s. Just wanted to know if Backtrack works and how easily a WEP Key can be cracked. Took me 10 minutes.

5. Jailbroken 3 iPhone 3Gs. redsn0w 0.8, Cydia, Installous… Whatever you do, don’t upgrade to 3.1.1!

Next on my list would be installing Windows 7 and Divx Beta so I can play MKV files on my Xbox 360!
