I just created a new blogĀ  http://japan.lifeonthespot.com which will detail our preparations and trip to Tokyo, Japan. Do visit it as it would have more details of our trip. However, I’d also post some stuff from the http://japan.lifeonthespot.com but not as detailed as those posts there.

Our vacation starts tomorrow!

Hi Chris! I was searching for rules regarding OFW travel tax and terminal fee exemption. But unfortunately, I cant find what im looking for, and i thought you must know the answer. (im an avid reader of your blog)

My husband works here in Qatar. We have 2 trips set for our vacation, manila-SG-manila and manila-HK-manila. Is the tax exemption applicable even if we are not travelling to Qatar? And how and where do we apply for reduced/priveleged tac certificate (me and children)? We are from Nueva Ecija.

Thanks! I really hope u still have time to answer as I know u will be travelling to Japan tomorrow!

Thanks for continiously reading the blog!

As for Travel Tax, OFWs only get exemptions when travelling to the country where they work and you need to apply for an OEC for that. In your case, you’ll have to pay 1600 Php for Travel Tax for international flights. Plus you have to pay 750 Php for Terminal Fee. So the reduced travel tax would also not apply in such case. For local flights, you only need to pay the Terminal Fee.

I usually wait for CEB’s 1 Peso Sale which typically happens in November for flights Summer of the next year. Tamang tama sa bakasyon namin. Last year, when I got tickets for Bangkok, I paid 7000+ Php for 7 people, taxes included. Then paid the Travel taxes and terminal fees. .
