Womens Tennis in QatarEverything is set for the WTA Championships – Doha 2010. With the presence of the top 8 women’s players and the 4 best doubles teams of the world, the season ending finale of the WTA Tour promises an exciting start and equally enthralling ending.

The event will be held from the 26th – 31st of October at the courts of the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex. The players will compete for the coveted title and a piece of the US$4.55 million in prize money.

Competing in the singles competition; newly crowned World No1 Caroline Wozniacki, US Open Champion Kim Clijsters, US Open runner-up Vera Zvonareva, the winner of the Family Cup, Samantha Stosur, BNP Paribas Open Champion Jelena Jancokic, Francesca Schiavone (the first Italian female tennis player to reach a final at a Grand Slam and win the title at Roland Garros), the winner of the Medibank International Sydney, Elena Dementieva and the champion of Bank of the West Classic, Victoria Azarenka. In the doubles; Gisela Dulko and Flavia Pennetta, Kveta, Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik, Lisa Raymond and Rennae Stubbbs and Vania King and Yaroslava Shvedova.

Matches will start at 5:00pm from the 26th – 29th of October, while the semifinals will take place on the 30th at 3:00pm and the finals on Sunday the 31st at 6:00pm.

The public attending the WTA Championships – Doha 2010 will find inside the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex entertainment beyond tennis. The organizers will offer the best possible time in a sporting and family atmosphere.

The Public Village will offer its visitors a great variety of entertainment. Primarily, kids will have an entire recreation area featuring; inflatable Castles, a Boxing Ring and an Obstacle Course. An F1 Tire Changing Activity will also be allocated in the sponsors’ side of the Public Village. In addition, there will be jugglers, stilt walkers, among other attractions.
