We’ve just arrived in Bangkok after a 7 hour flight from Doha. We were supposed to leave at 9 PM but had some delays because there were a lot of planes landing. They should really complete the new airport as with all the flight Qatar Airways engages in every year, you can’t avoid that kind of traffic. So we were on the plane for 30 more minutes than what was expected.

No hassles at the airport and we exchanged money right after passing Immigration. With the 5 luggage in tow, we headed to the first level of the airport to get a public taxi. The taxi gave us 2 choices; either pay 500 Baht for the whole trip or pay 70Baht for the highway plus whatever is on the meter. Since we know better, we chose the later. It usually just cost 350Baht to get to Bangkok City. In the end, we only paid 290Baht including a 20THB tip.

Breakfast at the Executive Lounge

We were expecting to just drop off our luggage at the hotel and leave for some shopping but after taking us to the Executive Lounge reception desk for check-in, we were told we can wait for 45 minutes to get a room. Much better than the expected 2:00 PM check-in. Xiane had her massage while reading a book she saw and we had breakfast at the Executive Lounge. We had eggs, breads, fruits, and maki! Delicious.

After breakfast, we were led to our room. While going to the elevator, we were told that instead of going to the Executive room, we were upgraded to the Executive Suite! WOW WOW WOW!

Stylish contemporary upper floor view suite acsented by a spacious lounge and ceiling-to-floor windows including 32″ LCD TVs, iPod docking station, All-day complimentary broadband access, 2 soft drinks daily, King Power duty free discounts, expresso machine and the super plush ‘Pullman Bed’ plus pillow menu with marble clad bathrooms featuring separate over-sized soaking bath and double fixtured rain & standard showers. Access to our executive club floor lounge which offers an exclusive breakfast with city view, complimentary evening cocktails & canapés and a unique chance to experience the King Power Executive Lounge @ Suvarnabhumi Airport upon your departure from Bangkok.

And so we’re here at the suite and enjoying the amenities included; Internet access, complimentary Softdrinks, breakfast at the Cuisine Unplugged or Executive Lounge, 15% Discount at King Power Duty Free, Shoe Shine Service, Complimentary cocktails and Canape’s at the Executive Lounge, and access to the Executive Lounge at the Suvarnabhumi Airport!

The Big Bath Tub where 3 of us can fit!

Cards, Discounts and Amenities

We Also love the big Bathroom with a tub good for 2 people. Xiane, of course, already is scheduling a triple date on the tub! They also provide a Pillow Menu with choices of Ultra Soft Micro Fibre Pillow, Firm Ball Fibre Pillow, Classic Standard, Contour, Cervicalopedic, and Buck Wheat. Wow! What more can you ask for? I actually just want to lie down on the bed and stay here than go outside. However, we need to buy clothes for the next few days as we are not bringing much. In fact, our clothes would only be good for 2 days. So after a quick shower, we’ll be off to go to Platinum Fashion Mall. Again, till next post!
