We’re here in Malaysia
In: Travel
9 Jul 2009This is one of the most nerve-wracking trips we’ve had so far as a lot of us have struggled with our health before the trip. This was really a concern since the “Swine Flu” scare might hinder us from flying and getting quarantined is not really something we look forward to. I myself was just recovering from a bout with Gout (I couldn’t help but indulge in some greasy, yummy food the first night we arrived) and a bad case of ingrown that messed my big toe really bad (an operation was almost done!).
Back to our trip, we got to Clark Airfield for our AirAsia flight to Malaysia at 10:45, an hour before its departure. We we’re in a hurry as we usually check-in early to prevent any complications and delays when checking in. But aside from the time it takes to fill up forms and the queue at the Immigration Counter, we managed to get on the plane without being the cause of its delay. The trip, which lasted 3 hours and 45 minutes, was uneventful. It wasn’t bad and the plane seems to be in good condition. There were some air pockets and turbulence but nothing out of the LOST kind of event.
We landed safely at Kuala Lumpur LCCT (Low Cost Carrier Terminal) at 3:50 P.M. and walked some way to Immigration. They also screened all passengers for (A)H1N1 by Thermal Sensors and temperature checks which we passed, much to our relief. They are more thorough than the Manila Airport that I can say. Anyway, after Immigration and Bag Reclaim, we immediately saw the SkyVans Counter where I booked weeks ago for a van to take us to Genting. You can book a Van with them through their Website for trips to Genting or other parts of Kuala Lumpur from the LCCT.
Although the trip to LCCT to Genting was 2 hours, we stayed awake and were impressed with Malaysia’s cleanliness and infrastructure. It was like the Philippines in some ways and is what you’d expect if government officials aren’t corrupt and made good use of the country’s money. Not to stray away, to get to Genting, you had to pass KL itself, thus giving us a glimpse of the Petronas Towers. So it was like an hour from LCCT to KL and another hour from KL to the mountain top of Genting. The sights going up to Genting was grand. I honestly don’t know what time we arrived in Genting and have to check the timestamp on the camera for that. We checked in Theme Park Hotel in probably 10 minutes and had dinner at Mary Brown’s as we were all tired and lazy to look at the other options close to the hotel. Mary Brown’s was inside the hotel so it was a no-brainer choice for us. Tonight is rest night so we just settled in and slept early. Later would be a busy day for all of us so that’s it for now. My review of the hotel and Genting itself would be on later posts. Till then…
