The Big Move to Qatar Academy for Xianelle

It’s official and definite!  Xianelle will be moving to Qatar Academy this September.  Hence we are also moving to a new place. As for the latter, we plan to have settled in the new place already before we leave for the Philippines in July.

We applied in Qatar Academy at the end of January. Xtian and I have been discussing this since December last year and looked into the curriculum of Qatar Academy and discussed the pros and cons of such move. After some emails and phone calls to Qatar Academy on January, we were told that they don’t accept children whose parents were not working for Qatar Foundation. We already agreed that it might have meant that Xianelle was to stay in Doha Montessori and British School. However, Xtian was persistent and was able to call the Admissions Office in Qatar Academy and this time, they told us the we can submit our application for Xianelle though we were not with Qatar Foundation. We were told that the odds of us getting a place for our daughter were not so good as they do give priority to those kids whose parents work in QF and sister companies.  Also, having a sibling already enrolled in QA doesn’t mean that they automatically get in. They still have to pass the interviews and tests. It didn’t matter to us as long as we try. So after submitting Xiane’s application (getting lost in Qatar Academy and nearly missing payment of the fee due to the office closing time), we got a call for a test and interview, last month.

After a week, the good news came. Xianelle has been accepted.  We are very pleased and we know that this latest development was clearly an answered prayer.  It’s one of the few moments when you know that something is really meant for you.

This is the reason why we have to mve out of the Old Airport Area.  We have to find a better situated apartment neaer to her school. Having to drive from our  current place to Qatar Academy everyday would be a very painstaking and taxing routine for me and especially for my daughter.  She would be very tired by the time we reach home and I doubt whether she’d still have any energy left to do her homework and study.  So as happy and content as we are here in our place, we now have to move and start all over again in a new place.

Congratulations Xianelle for doing good on your interview and entrance test!
