Still Searching

28 May 2009We’ve spent the whole afternoon looking at flats for rent along the Bin Omran and Clipp area. It was the ideal area for us as it just 10-15 mins away from Qatar Academy. We did find one that we liked about 2 weeks ago however, electricity hasn’t been installed yet since the owners haven’t secured the proper permit yet. We were told that the building will be ready 2 Sundays ago and that our contract will start on the 1st of June.
Having in mind that the building might not be ready as scheduled, we naturally, had to come up with a back up plan. We kept looking and are still looking until now. Today, we set off again to look at some flats in the same area. I made some calls to some people who showed us the flats. Unfortunately, there wasn’t really one that stood out. Well there was this one flat that Tian liked but I didn’t. Then we revisited the flat that we previously liked and found out that nothing has been done since the first time we saw it. There were still a few jobs to be done. But most of all it was apparent that the building hasn’t got electricity yet.
My husband phone the agent who told us that it will be ready for occupancy come Monday which he is very doubtful of. Another thing we realized is that the rooms might be too small to ever place anything aside from a queen size bed, a size smaller the king size bed that we have now. Tian was put off by this fact. Our room now, is not that spacious but it seems like the rooms in the new flat are rather smaller. Something that we really ought to think about.
So tomorrow, we will be out again to look for other flats. However this time we’ll be looking along the Al Sadd area. We thought that if we want to be able to see a flat with good-sized rooms, Al Sadd will be our best bet. There are a lot of new buildings in the area and there is a good chance that we might find the one we’ve been looking for. It is a very nice area, just in the heart of Doha, near to everything. At least it halfway to both Qatar Academy and Tian’s place of work.
So there you go, though we hate to be going out in the scorching heat of the sun, we don’t have a choice. I guess, we just have to keep searching until we’ve exhausted all possibilities. Hope we get lucky tomorrow.

Good luck sa house hunting
Sa may Bin Mamound (likod ng honda showroom) maraming bagong building. Problem with new buildings medyo maliliit talaga ang rooms.

Thanks Nina! We’ve seen a few flats around that area already but nothing that we liked in particular. You’re right, new flats have relatively smaller rooms than the old ones. Anyway, we’ll keep looking.
