Vodafone 1st 1000: Week 2 Update

So you may want to know how I’ve been using my Vodafone Sim card and calling and texting people in Doha. Telling you the truth, I am not using it. I

did buy myself a cheapo phone in Vilalgio when I got it. It worked well in Villagio. The next day, we got to Al Ghazal Club and it was ok with some

dropped calls and low network signals. After that, I found it difficult to get a signal with all other locations I’ve tried to use it. This includes

the Hyatt Plaza (car park area, inside the mall), Ras Abu aboud Office (inside the office), Abu Hamoor (Technical Inspection Office), and even at home in Old Airport Area. I’ve heard that they don’t have signals in RLC and in Al Wakra too.

I tried to carry 2 phones everytime we go out but since I wasn’t getting any signals, I just got frustrated with having a lot of stuff in my pockets and decided to leave my Vodafone phone at home for the moment. I’m not too upset with Vodafone not having good coverage since it was understood from the beginning that this would be a test. I was expecting though that Vodafone would at least have good coverage on main sections of Doha. And for the 70QR I paid for testing, I am now thinking that it should have been Vodafone who should have paid the 1st 1000 the 70QR to test their network. Again, I’m not too upset for them not having good coverage but nor am I pleased that we have to pay QR70 for not being to make calls at all. It’s been almost 3 weeks and I have only consumed QR40 just because I’m not able to get signals when I need to make a call or even when I don’t. As per their terms and conditions, whatever unconsumed credits we have would be credited next month after paying another QR70. Remember, the QR70 is supposed to be worth QR700. So hopefully, after a couple of more weeks and paying QR70, I’d be able to make use of Vodafone’s services and use the QR1400 credit. And probably, they’ll be able to iron out any kinks and the lack of coverage , at least in Doha.
