Qtel Upgrades ADSL?

9 Apr 2009Look at the image above! WOOOOOW. Is this permanent? For the past years, my torrent download speed is maxed at 65kbps. I was checking my torrent today and was surprised to see one torrent downloading at 77kbps, with the other 2 downloading at more than 15kbps each! That’s more than 110kpbs!
I also tested the speed using speedtest.net and got a significant bump from last week’s result. Last week, the top download speed was about 300kbps or .3Mb/s. Now, there is a 100% increase and more. Check out the image below and behold.
So is this the "upgrade" that we’re supposed to be seeing from Qtel. If it is, I am one happy customer! Check your ADSL speed and tell me if you’re experiencing the same thing
By the way, I’m subscribed to Mozaic so my ADSL speed is 512kbps

Currently getting 124kbps from my usual-never-changing 65kbps.
Probably they’re starting with Mozaic customers since we have better lines than those on usual ADSL connections. And it shouldn’t matter if your cable box is turned on or not. The cable box has a different setting and allocated bandwidth than your ADSL. So it’s not true that if you don’t use the cable and turn it off, the bandwidth allocated to it would transfer to your Internet line.

Hi,
I am also on Mozaic with 512 Mb/s. I tried the test three times to check for consistency.
Here are the highest results I found:
D – 1.30 Mb/s
U – 0.21 Mb/s
I also tried the test through the wireless connection. These are the results:
D – 1.16 Mb/s
U – 0.19 Mb/s
It’s about time Qtel upgrades their service. They are far behind so many countries, especially in terms of value for service. But I guess that’s how they make their billion-dollar profits!

Speedtest.net may not the best gauge for us at this point and may prove inconsistent. Test your ACTUAL download speeds and see if you really got an upgrade.
