The Mist
In: Qatar
10 Feb 2009Following days of warm weather, Doha was suddenly enveloped by mist this morning. Well, people often times call it Fog but Mist would do as well especially that the movie "The Fog" was never as scary nor eventful as "The Mist". It felt like I was in the movie "The Mist".
Mavis called me up as she got out of E-ring Road telling me that she was not sure if she would continue driving as it was her first time to drive in such conditions. I told her that she should keep slow and never past 80kmph. Also, I noticed that a lot of people have their hazard signals on. This should be a no-no. Why? Because now you loose your signal lights and those behind you don’t know when you’re turning left or right (that is assuming that you use them). So, keep the hazard signal off but keep your night lights on so you’ll have both lights at your back and the front.
I’m not sure if this would bring some drastic change in the weather but I don’t expect one though. The temperature this morning was still 15 degrees celcius, which was 18 deg. days ago. What we don’t want to come yet would be the sandstorm as it signals that the "winter" in Doha is over.

You’re right, you are not supposed to use your hazard lights. Me, I just use my fog lights and park lights. Low-beam light is fine too but not the high-beam light.

Argh! Spoke too soon! There’s a sandstorm alright. So it really means that we had a short winter this year.
