The Peninsula – The two-year-old daughter of a resident died after being left locked in her father’s car for about four hours. The girl’s father had forgotten to drop his daughter at her nursery and had gone straight to work. After about four hours in office, the father, who is an engineer working for a company located on C-Ring Road, suddenly remembered his daughter was in his car. Accompanied by some of his colleagues, he rushed to the vehicle and found his daughter still in her baby seat in the back. He immediately took her to the nearest hospital, the American Hospital, where he was told the child had died, a local Arabic daily reported yesterday.
The daily did not mention the cause of death, but extreme heat inside the locked car most likely caused the tragedy. Police rushed to the hospital after being informed and questioned the father about the case. Quoting sources, the daily said the father used to take his daughter to the nursery every morning before going to work. But the toddler had not gone to the nursery for the past two months. "Yesterday marked her return to the nursery after a gap of two months, and the father seems to have been influenced by his recent routine of going straight to work, without taking her with him," the daily said. Sources told the daily that the father was in a state of shock and screaming when he remembered that he had left his daughter in his car.
He took the infant in his own car to the hospital as there was no time to call an ambulance, the sources said. The daily said it had visited the American Hospital and found an investigation was on into the case. It recalled another incident a year ago in which a child survived after being left in a car for about two hours.
