For people expecting to stay and work in Qatar, I’m sure you’ve read a lot about the dismal transportation system here. So you’ve probably planned to buy a car once you’ve arrived. You have a lot of choices when it comes to selecting cars in Qatar; from the real expensive luxury cars to an affordable yet dependable car. Qatar is actually tagged as the “Land of Land Cruisers” as you’d see them everywhere (Saudi would be the “Land of the Suburbans” as per experience). Of late, Mavis and I see a lot of Nissan Tiida’s on the street. The basic Tiida would set you back about QR 44,000. The Top 3 Company cars in the market would be Toyota, Honda and Nissan. All Japanese companies.

Anyway, here is a list of showroom prices for Honda and Nissan in Qatar.

Sorry for my English. Very good information. I am foreinger and I have to move to Qatar in next two months for work. And I would like to buy there for my wife let’s say Honda CRV? Could you help me please to preliminary calculate the cost of Honda CRV? I mean total cost include insurance, taxes, registrations fees and other. Thank you very much for your help.

As what I’ve wrote above, the price would be more or less QR105,000QR. Then you just have to pay for the Insurance which is 5% of the value of the car. However, there are some promos which are given on certain months so the price can be lowered.

Hi,
Can you tell us what monthly costs would be on say a car that costs QR70 000 as opposed to one costing QR 130 000 inclusive of insurance and any other costs that are required to be paid by Qatari laws? A rough guideline figure would be appreciated.

There’s no real difference except for the insurance which is 5% of the total value of the car. Registration is the same for all cars I think. Aside from that, there are no differences. Even for gas consumption, very minimal difference as gas is cheaper than water in the Middle East.
