Last Wednesday, we had to be in school at 4pm for the Parents Evening which happens on 2 Wednesdays every term. We came early since we were coming straight from my husband’s office. About 10 minutes before our time, we decided to proceed to the building rather than wait in the car. As soon as we got inside, we saw Miss Jean (Xianelle’s teacher) waiting for a parent to come but since we were already there she asked if we wanted to go ahead. She was quite happy to see us and even said that we don’t have to worry as she only has good things to say about Xianelle.
So we did. First she showed us Xiane’s work, there were activities on writing, letters, numbers and a whole lot more. While we scanned through the papers she started talking about Xiane’s performance in class. We are so pleased to hear all the wonderful things that she said about her. She was impressed with her general knowledge as Xiane is a kid who likes to ask a lot so she’d have a better understanding of things. Xiane’s ability to read and comprehend is laso something to be proud of as she is one of those who excel in class. She said that Xiane was very spontaneous and was easy to talk to. We tried to ask her what Xiane should improve on and where she is lagging. After some thought, she said that the only thing that Xiane should improve on would be her writing and coloring. However, she also added that she knows that Xiane can easily do her work but at times, specially by noon, the children would already have lost their energy and interest so it is something that we should be not be too concerned of.
We were happy that she was doing well academically but most of all it was a delight to hear that Xiane is doing very well socially. It was very nice to hear that she is liked by her classmates and doesn’t have any problems interacting with her classmates and friends. She is quite popular among her peers.
I guess more than the good comments about her reading and knowledge, hearing that your child is socially balanced and a good girl at heart is the best compliment of all. We always tell our daughter that being beautiful and smart is nothing if you’re not good. We know for a fact, being her parents that she is a good girl but knowing that other people see the same thing only validates what we already know. We can never be prouder. Knowing that we are on the right path in raising her is more than enough reward that a parent could ever have.
We do hope that Xiane continues to do great in school and maintain her values in life. Hope she remains sweet, loving, lively and happy.
