Winter Bug

The cold weather combined with the rain last week has finally taken a toll on my daughter.  When we came home on Wednesday afternoon, I noticed that she had watery eyes and stuffy nose- symptoms of common colds.  Then later on she started coughing.  She had to miss school yesterday after getting a fever at 1am.  Although there was no longer a fever in the morning, we thought it best not to send her to school.

She was fine the whole day and then before going to bed she had a temperature again reaching up to 39.8 Celcius.  It was quite unnerving since she rarely gets that temperature when she gets sick and of course not knowing what could have caused the temperature to shoot up like that.  After giving her Adol I just had to make sure that her temperature goes down so I gave her a sponge bath.  We’re just fortunate that she’s not one to have convulsions whenever she has a high temperature.  I have cousin who was like that when she was a kid and it was really worrying whenever she was sick.

But for sure, if she gets a fever tonight, we will take her to the Children’s Emergency Clinic at Al Sadd which by the way has just been renovated.  I really like how it looks now, very stylish and neat.  But most of all the renovated facilities have made the services more efficient.

We hope though that Xiane doesn’t get a fever tonight and hope that we all get through the winter healthy, safe and sound.

Thanks Nina, that was so sweet of you. Anyway, thank God she didn’t get a fever last night so we didn’t have to see a doctor this morning. I guess she’ll be ok and is all set go to school tomorrow.
