Where is Hiro?

Whatever happened to “Hiroshan” or Hiro for short, our transport guy?  After a month of a fairly good service, with occasional tardiness and a driving skill that of Schumacher, he just suddenly didn’t show up this morning.  Xiane and I went down just as we always do at about 7am.  There we waited.  I was hoping that my phone would ring after 5 minutes because our driver always does this when he is about to arrive.  Ten more minutes later, no miss call, no gray Mitsubishi Gallant and no Hiroshan! And what’s worse, I had been calling him for the last 10 minutes by this time only to get a voice prompt that the person I am calling is “unavailable”.

We had to go back to our flat.  At first, Tian was considering not to send Xiane to school today.  But probably he took pity on my daughter, probably after seeing her all-dressed up and all-set for school.  Besides tomorrow will be the last day of school before the long vacation for the Eid.  We didn’t want her to miss on their activities in school which she truly enjoys every single day.  He drove us to school.  Understandably she was a bit late but it was fine since her music class was actually just starting.  Then from school, I went with him as he drove to work, so I can drive the car back home and later pick up Xiane from school.

I know I said I’d like to take a break from driving but what can I do.  I called Karwa and found out that they’re already fully-booked this morning and the next earliest available booking is at 3pm and my daughter finishes school at 12:15.  Though I really wanted some time-off from driving, I’m still thankful that I can drive when I really need to.  I just have to leave a bit earlier than usual so as to avoid the traffic, for I don’t have the skills that of Schumacher and even if I did, I still believe in road courtesy and etiquette.  I’d rather be a regular driver than piss a lot of people off.

As for our driver, it’s still a puzzle why he didn’t come today and why he didn’t even call.  Did he get into a serious accident, got his mobile phone stolen or at worse, is he in jail?  So here’s hoping that whoever knows “Hiroshan” and his whereabouts, please let us know by replying to this message or this number: 683 1219
