<description>Hindi naman po lahat ng OFW ay uneducated, many are also professionals with college degrees, pero kahit mababa ang pinag-aralan,wala po tayong karapatan na alipustahin sila.
You should be proud of them kasi aminin man natin o hindi, malaki po ang naitutulong ng remittances nila sa ating economiya.
Ang sabi pa ng isa diyan, siya daw ang dahilan kung kaya lumalago ang ekonomiya natin.
Sa ating mga kababayan, kayo na po ang bahalang humusga sa mga ganitong klaseng mga mapanirang mga nilalang

<description>I do agree with you on some points. However, I also want to point out that it is not true that most OFWs are uneducated. You might be surprised that more than half have college degrees. It&#039;s just that opportunity in the Philippines is nowhere to be found. Thus some are forced to get jobs lower than their qualifications.
There really is nothing funny about what she wrote nor was it an elitist article. She more of a racist, but trying hard to sound-like an elitist.

<description>I just read the very insulting article of Malou Fernandez and I really feel appalled that it even got published unedited.
While it&#039;s true that she was just stating the facts..there is also the other fact that a responsible writer needs to be sensitive. There are realities that need to be told but not the way she told it.
Fernandez should have thought about what she wrote before having it published..If she did, I am sure she will not miss the fact that our hard working overseas workers are those who belong to the lower class of our society...and they can not match the sophistication
she wants her readers to believe she has..and that being realized, she should have been more understanding and more compassionate.
Our OFW&#039;s are not as lucky as she is...in fact the reason they are leaving their families and working abroad is because they are poor.Yes they lack the education that could make them read anything thicker than a magazine and that alone should make her feel for the ofws rather than insult them.
If she now wants her reader to believe that she is just being humorous..I am sorry to tell her there is nothing funny about it.Ascerbic wit is definetly not a valid defense.
Her column was a direct insult..
Her arrogance was writen all over it..
I am a journalist myself who traveled the world since the 1980&quot;s until my retirement in 1993 and experienced what fernandez described in her article not once but several times, but I did not react the way Fernandez did...because I totally understood them and tried to put myself in their situation to understand more.
Nobody is asking her to do anything to help these people but she does not have the right to degrade and insult them the way she did...
And no..I don&#039;t lack common sense . I am reacting to her article and her comments to the various negative comments she has been getting because I am a Filipino who love my country and my countrymen .
