It’s Here!

19 Mar 2007Thank God, we finally got the car yesterday. Actually, Tian went to pick it up at the bodyshop after work yesterday. But he has yet to accomplish the registration of the car since it expired on the 6th of this month. He went to the Airport Traffic Department this morning but was told that the car has to undergo inspection first, as all cars three years old and up must pass an annual inspection before the road permit or Estimara is renewed.
So what Tian needs to do is take the vehicle to Qatar Technical Inspection Company (QTIC) located on the corner of 24th Street and Al Kassarat Street in the Salwa Industrial Area. The gates are open daily from 6am to 5:30pm except on Fridays. There is a testing fee of QR 75 for private cars and the expiring Estimara is also required. For others who do not wish to proceed to the testing center in the Industrial Area, there are also mobile testing centers operating in various sites. You can call the QTIC switchboard on 460 4029 or 460 4086. QTIC now operates at a pick-up service from the car owner’s place in Doha for an additional fee of QR150.
Hopefully our car passes the inspection. The QTIC is very strict about their criteria for inspection, even minor faults may have to be repaired before inspection, to assure that the vehicle will pass. This is exactly the reason why we had to have the damages to our car repaired, even the minor bump from my first accident. Tian is hoping to get finished with the inspection this afternoon so that tomorrow he could immediately proceed with the renewal of the car insurance and then lastly with the registration. Then everything will be back to normal. We wouldn’t have to be at the mercy of Karwa anymore. We could go anywhere we wish to go. We miss playing tennis, spending time, having a picnic and buying fresh crabs and fish at the corniche. We miss going to the souq and most of all going to church. Thank God the long wait will soon be over.
