Sick Leave

I haven’t been sick for quite sometime till now. I would get colds or cough but not to the point of getting fever and having to rest the whole night. I guess I had it coming, substance abuse maybe. Yup, I’ve had too much ice cream and cold drinks lately. The other night, I just felt some pain in my throat that it was really difficult to swallow. I thought well, it’s could be due to the change in climate. But while we were out yesterday, I started to feel sick. I felt cold though I feel my temperature rising up. By the time we were in Souq, in one of the Filipino groceries there, I felt really sick already. I was trying to keep myself warm by folding my arms closer to my body and placing my hands in my underarms. One of the guys in the grocery even asked if I was sick, so I said yes. Then the next thing he asked if I was married, what a segue, I thought.

Once we got home, I just dressed up and jumped into bed afterwards. Thanks to my dear husband for really taking care of me. He made sure that I took my medicines, he fed me and was always asking what I needed. He would ask me every now and then how I was doing. He also took good care of Xiane last night.

I woke up today still feeling unwell although I don’t have fever anymore. I’m scheduled to go to the clinic at 10:30 a.m. as I might need to take something for my throat. Till now it hurts so bad, really hard to swallow even the liquids. Sadly, Xiane might not be able to go to school again tomorrow if I’m not well yet. I just hope this would be over soon.
