Ramadan Kareem!

It was the start of Ramadan last Saturday. We went out at 5:30 PM and found the streets amazingly empty! We got to our friends’ house in 15 minutes without really stopping at a roundabout. Cool. How I wish it would always be like this in Doha. However, when we were going home at 9:30 PM, we found the roundabouts full. They we’re implementing the stoplights on D-ring road which turned green on each side for a minute. That meant waiting for 3 minutes before it was your turn to go. The problem with this was that you actually just get 45-50 seconds per side as the other cars navigating to their respective exit points were still on the roundabout and you have to wait for them. A long queue had already piled up when we got to the roundabout and probably wasted a good 15-20 minutes before we got home. I don’t think that the stoplights would solve the problems with the roundabouts as I saw another long queue this morning and afternoon.

Anyway, I started work at 8:30 this morning and left the office at 1:30 PM. It would be like this till the end of Ramadan. 5 hours of work! I get to sleep late and wake up late too!
