Placement in Parkhouse International for SY2007
Parkhouse International School: Full for SY 2007!
Mavis called Parkhouse International School (Qatar) to inquire about slots for next year (SY 2007) for my preschooler (now aged 3). She was told that all slots are already full and needs to call again next month to see if there would be slots that would be made available!!! They didn’t ask Mavis for her nationality when she was told that so I’m hoping that it wasn’t about not being a British or American passport holder. If they want to give Xiane a language exam, I'm sure she'll do good as she can converse well than most 3 year olds can.
Even for the Philippine Schools in Qatar, most of them were already full when I called last May to inquire. Their school year starts June as opposed to international schools which usually open September. I'm sure this lack of available slots would be the same for the other schools too. Qatar really needs to open more schools to accommodate the children of expats. Say Qatar has 30 schools (I’m sure they don’t reach this number) which are available and that each expat family has a minimum of 2 kids. That means, for every 50,000 expats, you get 100,000 kids which are to be enrolled in these schools. That means, each school should at least accommodate 3333 kids in different levels (except college). And that’s just for 50,000 expat families!
How could we then send our children to any of these schools if they’re fully booked till 2010???
